Dear Family and Friends, We are thrilled to be writing our first Family Christmas letter, and a lot has happened to us during this 2009 year and we are excited to share these events with you.
We have been married for a little over a year and a half. Derek graduated from the University of Wyoming in December of 2008 with a degree in Geography, and Tamika finished up her student teaching at Green River High School and graduated in August of 2009 with a degree in Math Secondary Education. We are excited to be done with the college atmosphere for a while, but Tamika is planning on attending graduate school next year to pursue a middle school level science endorsement.
Last summer we added a small addition to our family… Regan! She is an energetic Miniature Pinscher who satisfies our baby craving for at least a couple more years. We bought her from a small family living in Stockton, Utah, and only regret it when we come home to find the house a disaster! Just joking… she is a joy to our lives, and we don’t know how we’ve got along this far without her.
Currently, Derek is working at Halliburton in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He works in the Chemical Barn so he spends most days waiting around for trucks. The hours are horrible and the pay is even worse, but we are grateful for the job. Luckily, he just got hired on at FMC and will start there in January. It has been his dream to work for this company, so we are so blessed that he was able to get on, especially in this economy. It will be a nice pay raise too, so we are happy about that! Tamika is currently working in Lyman, Wyoming teaching 7th grade math and 8th grade science. She loves the kids there and couldn’t have asked for a better first year job!
We bought and built a house in Rock Springs, and love the location. We have big mountains in our backyard, a gym down the road, and schools within walking distance. It is a 3 bedroom 2 ½ bath home with a completely unfinished basement. We customized it ourselves and love it! We are looking forward to the upcoming year and wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
