Derek had the chance to go backpacking this week with his brother-in-law Todd and his brothers. They hiked out of paradise park which is west of vernal 4 miles to a place called twin lakes and spent 3 days camping, fishing, and doing what men do in the great outdoors.
They caught a couple of small fish in the lake but they were too small to cook and eat. Also it was really marshy so they had to hike up their pants and walk in to even get a decent cast.
It rained when they were hiking in and rained again once they had finished drying everything out. but Derek says it was still a really fun trip!
Derek surprisingly did not forget anything but realized there is a couple of things he needs to invest in before the next trip...
a gun however is not one of them, because he got this beast before he left:
luckily he didn't have to use it on any wild animals,
but it was good for him to have it just in case.
i'm glad to have him home safe and sound.

sounds like a great trip. awesome looking gun, what is it? I liked to shoot pistols. Derek is a great one to have on a backpacking trip, His dad taught him well.
Looks like fun wow that is a nice gun. I know who to call if I have an intruder!
Kris, Kalab, Bonnie, Larry and Becky all went backpacking this last weekend as well. Must be in the air. :) Glad he didn't hae to use the gun on any wild animals!! haha
Glad someone took pictures. Could you email those to me. Todd had a really good time and is already planning next year. He says Derek is going to take them into the Wind Rivers.
