This post is all for derek!
Maybe he doesn't think i am very observant, but turns out i am extremely observant! and i just wanted to share some facts/things that derek does, whether he knows it or not, that lets me know that he loves me!
1) we have been in two small accidents. once while i was driving and one while he was driving. both accidents i came away with out a single scratch, but derek on the other hand has had some bloody knees. the reason for this is because when he knows the accident is inevitable he stretches his body over the middle of the car in order to protect me from flying through the window. granted none of our accidents were really life threatening, it still makes me feel reassured that he is willing to throw himself between me and a glass window.
2) i am a very picky eater, and i like what i like... and i dont like when dereks breath smells like onions. so even though he loves the tearjerking devils, he always orders: "no onions, please".
also whenever we go out to eat and i find some disgusting items on my plate, he so gentlemanly clears a spot on his plate so i don't have to have the displeasure of having them in my edible range.
3) somedays i can be so grouchy and stubborn, most especially in public places such as the grocery store... so a solution we have found that seems to work best is if i sit in the grocery cart. almost everytime we go to the grocery store to shop you will find me balled up in the wire basket. i enjoy it immensly, and for those of you that also take the thrilling ride i suggest stopping by the bedding aisle and grabbing a nice fluffy pillow for your backside, and make sure to set a good example of staying seated in the cart for the younger cart riders.
4) another car thing derek does which i forgot to mention before, it is a little more suttle, and doesn't happen as often because we both have to be in the back seat, is that when we are turning a corner derek will put his arm around me so i don't fly across the car. i also have probably only opened the door 10 times for myself in the course of our year marriage and dating history.
what a gentleman!
5) We have been to disneyland twice, universal studios once, yellowstone, and hiking a couple times throughout our relationship together. and me + sun + sweat is an awful combination and it seems to cause irritation in my voice, a lack of patience, and a heightened sense of hearing and smelling therefore causing me to be extremely bitchy! but it is wierd because i always warn derek of this evil being that lives inside of me but when we go out, IT never comes out. i found this to be a little strange, my whole life i had fought with this devil being, but with derek it never surfaced. i paid alot of attention when we were last in disneyland and figured out why this was.
6) derek ALWAYS puts the toilet seat down. in fact i probably leave the top seat up more than he does! derek is a great cook! and he does the laundry more than i do. and i think i will expand on that just a bit. when i do laundry... all the clothes go in the washer on whatever setting it is on and click click the clothes are washing. then when they are done spinning i throw them all in the dryer. derek on the other hand sorts the clothes according to color, checks all my pockets for random items, sets the washer to the correct temperature, oh and doesn't forget to "shout out" the stains. then when the clothes are ready for drying he reads the labels and hangs up the cotton items. what a stud i had no idea laundry was such a process. he is trying to teach me the correct way.
well the list could go on and on but the truth is i am sitting in the agriculture building in laramie wyoming and my hands are freezing cold, and i have yet to walk back home and go grocery shopping!
so derek...
i love you and thanks for a
great first year of marriage!

Sounds like to me that Derek is a pretty special guy. But I already knew that - he has always been GREAT
I think you are both good to each other. It makes for a great marriage when you both think about what the other likes
